Alice who?

Oh, did I really say Alice in my last blog? I meant Dorothy. Shouldn't be surprised by the mix up. The real secret is I have never properly read Alice in Wonderland nor Wizard of Oz. Ever. Watched bits of the movies on TV. Somehow never had the patience to finish it. Even with Sabuda books, I am too distracted by the wonderful presentation pop-ups to read any word. I just keep opening and closing page after page.

Pop-up Wheel

In my last blog, the video shows the tornada sweeping Alice and her house into the land of Oz. Below is another marvel of paper engineering. With productions like this, printed books will always find fans.

Animated Books

The recent Borders 40% discount gave me a chance to pick up not a few books that I have been eyeing for a long while. These are the pop-up books by Robert Sabuda (thanks Peng for the tip!). They look like children books but grown-ups will enjoy them no less. In fact they make great gifts for young and old. Here is a preview..

Of the lot, I am most impressed with the Wizard of Oz. Parts not only open up to a complex work of art, they may peep out from a wall, hide behind a window, wave and even spin. When I show the pages to my colleagues, their jaws drop and everyone wants to know where to buy them.
